Frequently Questions Asked about mySDAtv Devices
:

1)  Q: How do I update to a new version?

A: Every time a new update is released, a prompt on your screen will ask if you would like to update your software version.

Just choose YES and follow the prompt. If the prompt does not come on, access the Main Menu, look on the right to see if the “Latest Version” is higher than “Your Version.” If so, you should install the update by selecting the “Other” icon and pressing OK.

Select the “Update” icon, and wait until the download is finished. Then arrow down and to the right and highlight the “Install” box, and press OK.

When the “My App” green box shows on your screen, unplug the power cord for one second, then plug it back in. Wait until it finishes playing the short video, then select the Main Menu and confirm that “Your Version” and “The Latest Version” are the same. If they match, you’ve successfully updated your box.

2)  Q: What can I do if I’m not able to finish the update but get a “Parse Error”?

A: If you get a “Parse Error,” it’s because the updated code could not be read or interpreted corruption. To get your box working again, you must do a “Factory Reset.” This problem is rare, and is not recommend unless necessary as last option.

From the Main Menu page, highlight the yellow “Settings” icon, then arrow down to “General Settings.” Next, arrow way down to highlight “Backup & Reset” and press OK. Select the “Factory Data Reset” and press OK, then arrow down to choose “Reset MBX.” Next, choose “Erase Everything” and press OK.

The reset is finished when you get a green icon on “My App.” Next, unplug your box from power for one second, then plug it back in.

The Terms and Conditions will show on screen so you can read it if you wish. Otherwise, press the down arrow several times until you come to the “Decline” box, then arrow to the right to choose “Accept” and press OK.

Wait to finish loading the video, and your Main Menu will show “Your version is 1.29.” This is the first version we created, and you will be ready to do a new updates to the current version without the initial corruption you were getting.

3)  Q: What do I do if I only have one HDMI input on my TV, and it’s already being used for another device that I need to keep?

A: You may purchase a new flatscreen TV with many HDMI inputs, or buy an HDMI switch from Amazon.com or some other source.

A third option is to use the A/V outputs if you have the M15 or M20 models. There is a composite audio/video cable that is not included with the box but can be purchased separately, that can connect to your old TV video input (yellow connect to Video, white and red connectors connected to audio). However, keep in mind that these are analog connections, so you will not get the High Definition (HD) picture quality found if you use the HDMI digital output.

In addition, the A/V output of the model M15 box are default set to the PAL television system used in Europe and Asia. To use this A/V output in USA with our NTSC system, you must press the number 9, then the button with three lines in your remote control, which will switch your box from PAL to NTSC, allowing you to watch the picture in color. You should also be aware that the aspect ratio may be different because of the system conversion.

4)  Q: Can I connect one mySDAtv box to two TV sets by connecting the HDMI output to one and the audio/video cables to the other?

A: No, a mySDAtv box can only output one signal at the time—HDMI or A/V. 2)

5) Q: I want to take my box with me to a hotel. How would I hook it up there?

A: While this is possible, results in quality may vary. If a hotel provides free Wi-Fi, you may encounter stability problems that cause your picture to breakup, freeze, or distort because many other hotel guests are sharing the same Wi-Fi connection.

However, if the hotel’s bandwidth and speed are good, you may connect to it the same way you would at home.

First, connect your mySDAtv box to the TV and to A/C power. On the startup Menu, select the “Other” icon, then press OK. Next, select the “Internet” icon, then press OK. This will open up a browser for you to enter the hotel’s website.

Keep in mind that each hotel is different, but they generally ask for certain guest information, like your room number, or your last name, before they allow you to connect to their Wi-Fi. If you are able to go beyond this point, you will be connected to the Internet and will be able to use your mySDAtv box.

6)  Q: What does the “Can’t Play this video” screen message mean?

A: It means that your device may be connected to the Internet but it is not connected to the streaming Internet signal. Check to see if your Ethernet cable is properly plugged in, or if you are using Wi-Fi, check to make sure you are connected by selecting the “Other” icon, then selecting the “Speed Test” icon. The minimum speed you need is 1.5MB, or higher.

The best connection is to use an Ethernet cable from your box to your Internet Router. However, if the router is in a different room and the Ethernet cable is not long enough, the alternative way is to use Wi-Fi.

Select “Settings,” then Wi-Fi, and choose the name of your wireless network and press "OK." Next, enter your password. Then exit button with a left arrow above number 2 of the remote just once. Your keyboard will disappear from the screen.

We recommend you use the up/down/left/right arrows to navigate your curser to the box that says “show password” and press "OK." This will allow you to see the password you entered. If needs a correction, press the OK button in the center of the arrows in order to get the keyboard back in the screen and use the X key in the upper right corner of the keyboard to delete the wrong password. This time, enter the correct password, then press the return key located above the arrows in the right side of the remote control. The keyboard will disappear. Arrow down then arrow to the right to select “Connect,” and press "OK." The box will obtain your IP address and then indicate that it is “Connected.” If it says “Authentication Problem” then your password was incorrect. Repeat the above steps with the correct password.

Q: How do I check for a newer software update?

A: Every time the mySDAtv device is powered on, it will check automatically for a newer software version and displays it on the right side of Main Menu (latest version is XXX). However, just to be sure, you can arrow down until highlight the book icon and press OK, then highlight the button on screen that says “check for update” but look the button below to make sure it says that the update in ENABLED. If it is disable, arrow down and press OK to be able to check for new update. If there is a new version available, you can take the following steps:

1. Select the “Other” icon and press OK.
2. Select the “Update” icon and press OK.
3. Arrow down and right to select “Install” and press OK.

After a few seconds showing the increasing percentage of the download until it says that it is “Done”. Then unplug the power cord from the wall for two seconds and then plug it back in. Wait for it to finish rebooting. This process can take up to 2 or 3 minutes, depending on your Internet speed.

Check on the Main mySDAtv Menu screen to see what is your version. If the version numbers match, you have updated the box successfully. If not, repeat the process.

7)  Q: I’ve heard that mySDAtv device has a DVR (Digital Video Recording) feature?

A: This feature is enabled only for the users that chose to subscribe per monthly payments.  It allows you to watch two weeks of 24/7 pass recordings anytime you want to watch, plus also allows you to download to an external drive, any of these programs for sharing to others or keeping in your own library. These two features works only for the channels that have a program schedule that allows our recorders to know when to start and when to stop recording. Unfortunately, some channels do not send me their EPG and the DVR function doesn’t work without it.

8)  Q: Can I connect a mouse and Keyboard to mySDAtv device?

A: Yes. The mySDAtv device has a USB type A that allows you to connect a mouse and keyboard allowing you to full function.

9)  Q: Does the MySDAtv box have Seventh-day Adventist radio stations?

A: Yes! You will find the list of Radio stations and selecting what station you want to listen.

10)  Q: When I want to watch a program in the morning, the box has a black screen and none of the buttons work on the remote control. What do I do?

A: Your box is not malfunctioning; it has simply gone into a Sleep Mode. This is a safety feature that keeps it from running 24/7 and waist our money. Every second you watch the streaming cost us money. We’ve programmed the box to go into sleep Mode after two hours of operation, unless you press any button of the remote control. To wake up your box, simply press the Red Power button on your remote control and it will wake it up.

NOTE: this Red Power button on boxes model M15 does not turn your box ON/OFF, it only put your box to sleep and wake it up. For the model M20, the red button works for power ON/OFF but it is still a good way to wake up the box.

11)  Q: I want to check and see when a certain program will be on. Can I do that?

A: Yes, each of the channels that has, an Electronic Program Guide (EPG) are able to give you that information. This feature lets you see when a certain program will be on. Unfortunately, some channels don’t supply us with the EPG and that information is not available to be viewed.

12)  Q: What is the shipping and handling charge for a mySDAtv device in the USA? How about their places in the world?

A: The shipping and handling anywhere in USA is $20.00. Shipping to other countries must be estimated, and an invoice will be e-mailed to you. Upon payment of the invoice, we will quickly ship your device.
